7th July Public Holiday India,Update: There has been no official announcement by the Indian government yet that there will be a holiday on July 6 or July 7 for Muharram. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar which is very important in Islamic history. And is considered the beginning of the Islamic year. Muharram will be celebrated by sighting the full and partial moon. The Indian media has assumed that Muharram will most likely be on July 6.

Bank Holiday

The Reserve Bank of India has already announced that all banks will be closed on July 7 for Muharram and if Muharram falls on July 6, then it is Sunday so the government does not have to declare that day as a new holiday.

Many Muslim-dominated state governments in India have already declared July 7 as Muharram, such as West Bengal, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh.
