Tesla is the fastest growing car manufacturer in the world. On 15/07/2025, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra officially inaugurated the Tesla showroom, Tesla inaugurated its first showroom in the Indian market at Bandra Kurla Complex, Maharashtra. For the Indian market, Tesla has launched two variants of the Model Y which are fully EV-Powered and the price range is 60.1 lakh to 67.8 lakh. Of the Tesla models launched for the Indian market, one is a rear-wheel drive model and the other Long Battery Life Model.
Tesla has launched this car targeting the middle class customers in the Indian subcontinent. The rear wheel Tesla Care model is priced at Rs 6.01 lakh and the long range version Tesla Car model is priced at Rs 6.75 lakh. The car that Tesla has launched will not have any self-driving option now, but if the customer thinks that he will need the self-driving option in the car in the future, then the customer will have to pay an additional Rs 6 lakh for it. The company has informed that they have no plans to set up any manufacturing unit in India now, they have opened a showroom to show the customer interest. Due to the high Indian custom duty, Indian customers have to buy one and a half cars at a price of 106% more, which seems to be a high value to them.
